Tanya Paunovic- Senior Sports Physiotherapist
Tanya is a Senior Sports Physiotherapist with a special interest in:

Tanya is the Head Physiotherapist for the Geelong Football Club AFLW team having previously worked for the Essendon Football Club as a Rehabilitation Physio & the elite junior football program at the Calder Cannons.
Tanya graduated from La Trobe University with a Bachelor of Health Science and Masters of Physiotherapy Practice. She holds a graduate certificate in Sports Physiotherapy and is currently completing her Masters in Sport Physiotherapy.
Through a combination of manual therapy and rehabilitative exercise, Tanya is able to address the underlying cause of a patient’s condition and ultimately lay a platform to prevent recurrent issues in the future.
Tanya is a Senior Physiotherapist at Complete Balance Maidstone and will commence consulting every day from the 10th of May 2021.
Ben Ireland- Senior Physiotherapist
Ben excels in the management of a range of conditions from sports injuries to back, neck and shoulder pain. Ben is a very experienced Physiotherapist who, before working at CB Physio, managed a busy private practice and consulted on difficult cases for BHP Billiton.
Ben is also the Rehabilitation Physiotherapist with the Essendon Bombers VFL team.
Ben has an interest in treating and preventing a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries and getting his clients back to full function quickly. He is trained in the use of Real-Time Ultrasound and dry needling which both act as an excellent adjunct to his range of treatment approaches.
Outside of work Ben has a keen interest in numerous sports, predominantly Australian Rules Football. Other interests include camping, fishing and cooking.

Maddison Boyer- Physiotherapist & Clinical Pilates Practitioner
Maddison is an experienced Physiotherapist, Clinical Pilates instructor and a Strength & Conditioning Coach. She holds a degree in both Exercise Science and a Master of Physiotherapy from La Trobe University.
‘Maddi’ has a keen interest in Sports Physiotherapy, Rehabilitation and Women’s Health related conditions. She excels in the manual therapy and management of back and neck related pain including headaches. Her knowledge and experience provides the perfect rehabilitation pathway for her clients.
Maddi has regularly represented Australia in the World Water Ski racing championships and has extensive history in dance, specifically Ballet.
Maddi is also our Clinical Pilates Physiotherapist.
Joss Whitford - Senior Physiotherapist
Joss is an experienced physiotherapist with a keen interest in sports rehabilitation. He completed an undergraduate and Masters Physiotherapy degree at the University of Canberra before relocating to Melbourne. More recently, he has finished a Graduate Certificate in Sports Physiotherapy at La Trobe University.
Joss has a particular interest in strength and conditioning, having completed his Australian Level 2 S&C qualification. Joss brings his wealth of expertise in the particular areas of post-surgical rehabilitation, back pain, running injuries and shoulder pain. He is experienced in all treatment streams including dry needling, joint mobilisation and soft tissue therapy.
Joss is the traveling physiotherapist for the Philippines National Rugby 7’s and 15’s international program and is also the Head Physiotherapy for the Melbourne University Blacks Football Club since 2017.
Outside of work, Joss enjoys multi day hikes, camping and live music and comedy events.
Liam Phillips - Senior Sports Physiotherapist
Liam is Sports Physiotherapist who currently shares his time with us and the St Kilda Football Club (AFL). He has previously been the the Head Physiotherapist for the GWS Giants (AFL) Academy teams for the past four years. Prior to this he was the head physiotherapist for the Werribee Tigers in the VFL.
Liam completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Melbourne and has completed his Masters in Sports Physiotherapy & Exercise with La Trobe University. Liam excels in the management of shoulder and hip related pain using a range of manual therapy and exercise techniques to get his clients pain free and at full capacity.
He has a passion for educating patients and providing knowledge regarding exercise and conditioning to manage their own health. Outside of work you might find Liam running laps at prince park or on the squash court.
Emma Hoy -Physiotherapist
Essendon FC (VFL) Physio
Emma graduated from the Doctor of Physiotherapy at Melbourne University following completion of a Bachelor of Exercise Science Degree at Bond University.
Emma is very experienced in treating an array of musculoskeletal injuries including back pain, groin pain, knees injuries and shoulder issues.
She has a particular interest in the rehabilitation of rowing, skiing & football related injuries. Emma’s sporting experience includes working with:
- Gold Coast Suns AFL
- St Kevin’s Old Boys (VAFA)
- Bond University Rugby team
- Major League Baseball Australia Academy Program
She is currently a physiotherapist for the Essendon Football Club VFL program.
Emma enjoys rehabilitating injuries across a wide range of pain conditions and strongly advocates for treating every client on their individual needs. She takes pride in delivering high quality evidence-based rehabilitation that integrates both hands-on and exercise-based interventions.
Outside of work, Emma enjoys escaping the city and exploring nature, ocean swimming and travelling. She is currently working on improving her running skills, in an effort to compete in an Olympic distance triathlon.
Ellen Sutton - Clinical Pilates
Ellen is an experienced Clinical Pilates instructor with expertise in musculoskeletal rehabilitation for hip pain, back/ neck pain, osteoarthritic joints, improved posture and simply building strength and muscle tone. Ellen has the skill set to manage clients with reduced mobility and capacity all the way to the elite athlete. Ellen will work closely with you and your physiotherapist at Complete Balance to tailor a specific program for your specific needs.
A little about Ellen….
Ellen was first introduced to Pilates at a young age while studying at the Australian Ballet School. Pilates became an essential complement to the rigours of her training and has helped her sustain her professional dance career. After studying with the Australian Ballet School for seven years, Ellen later moved into musical theatre and has toured Australasia in shows such as “Wicked” “Rock Of Ages” and “Dream Lover: The Bobby Darin Musical.”
More recently, due to the stresses of performing eight shows a week, Pilates became an essential ingredient in her daily routine. Ellen went on to formally study her matwork and then Clinical/Rehabilitation training at the renowned high calibre program ‘Polestar Pilates Australia’.

Nick Kane- Sports Physiotherapist
Nick is a Sports & Exercise Physiotherapist having completed a Masters in Sports Physiotherapy from La Trobe University. He completed is undergraduate Physiotherapy degree at Notre Dame University in Fremantle. Nick excels in working with sporting injuries and rehabilitation for return to sport.
Nick works full time as a Physiotherapist at the Essendon Football Club and part time here at CB Physio whilst also managing a Sports Physiotherapy professional development business called The Sports MAP Network. His role at Essendon involves match day coverage, injury prevention and rehabilitation of the AFL players.
