Sam Wakefield - Physiotherapist & Strength Coach
Sam is dedicated to helping you recover from injury, build lasting resilience, and perform at your best. Whether you’re working through a stubborn tendon problem, a running injury, or a soft tissue setback that keeps holding you back, Sam has the expertise to get you moving with confidence again.
Sam has a special interest in tendon and soft tissue injuries, with a particular focus on running and field-based athletes. His clinical interest lies in lower limb injuries — the calf, Achilles, knee, and foot-ankle complex — where he uses progressive loading, strength development, and objective performance markers to guide your recovery and reduce the risk of reinjury. The goal isn’t just to settle symptoms; it’s to return you stronger and more durable than before.
Sam has worked across high-performance sporting environments, including the Geelong Cats VFL program and Essendon’s AFLW and VFLW programs, giving him experience managing complex injuries and working with athletes of all levels.
He brings together a background in strength and conditioning with formal training through a Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science and a Doctor of Physiotherapy, blending performance principles with evidence-informed care. Sam has also contributed to tendon and soft tissue research through Monash University, deepening his understanding of how tissue adapts and responds to load — knowledge he brings directly into your rehabilitation.
If you’re ready to move better, feel stronger, and get back to doing what you love, Sam is here to help.
